Alaska Physician Continuing Medical Education (CME) Requirements for Licensure Registration

Credit amount: 50 hours of CME credits per licensure cycle
AMA/ACOG/AAFP/AOA: 50
CME/Year: 50
Hours/Year: 25
Licensure cycle: 2 years—physicians must complete an average of 25 hours of CME during each year of the previous licensing period.
Equivalent Certificates: AB: AMA PRA, ABMS, GME
Topics: Physicians must take a minimum of two hours of education in pain management and opioid use and addiction (unless they do not hold a valid DEA registration). More than 40 CME credit hours can be taken on a topic of choice. Credits must be AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™-approved education, or category 1 or 2 of AOA-approved education.
