Tennessee Physician Continuing Medical Education (CME) Requirements for Licensure Registration
Credit amount: 40 hours of CME credits per licensure cycle. For DOs, credit hours must be approved by the board in Category I-A, II-A and/or I-B CME as defined by the AOA

Licensure cycle: 2 years
Equivalent Certificates: AMA PRA
Topics: Appropriate prescribing (1 credit every 2 years)
Unless exempt, both MDs and DOs must complete 2 CME training hours each renewal cycle on the topic of controlled substance prescribing. More than 30 CME credits can be earned in any subject area.
